Heart & Music - A Benefit for Alethia Christian Theater

It has been an interesting summer. I don't really feel like I've had one between working full time, two weeks in Tanzania, preparing to move across the country, and taking a stab at producing a benefit for Alethia. It is all for an incredibly good cause. I only wish I had an extra two months in my summer to actually make it all fit comfortably instead of doing what I have always done; completely overbooked myself. Someday I will learn the art of time management. Someday. Here are a few lessons learned in producing my first show:

1. DON'T PLAN A BENEFIT THE WEEK BEOFRE YOU MOVE TO VIRGINIA!
2. Don't go to Africa while you should be rehearsing.
3. Don't act in the same show you are producing.
4. Don't pick music that is too high for the actors to sing. (Sorry Deb, you sound amazing!)
5. Find a cast and crew that has relatively the same schedule as you do.
6. When making posters for your show, remember to put the dates of the show on the poster.
7. If you want pre-sale, find a cheaper way of selling tickets online...offering priority general seating is obviously not enough.
8. My wife is amazing.
9. My friends are amazing.
10. I can produce my own show.

Despite its difficulties and all of the hard lessons learned, I believe in this show and what it is setting out to do. This is why I’m posting this now instead of next week when it’s over. I want people to come to this show. I want them to know we've worked very hard and overcome some huge obstacles, like scheduling. :) This show is going to rock and I hope that the amount of ticket sales will bless Alethia in a huge way. I want to give back to them a fraction of what they have done for me. Alethia and its amazing kids have inspired me to teach, helped me discover what my true passion is, and left me with amazing memories and friends.

I hope you all will come support this show. Every dime you spend on your ticket goes directly to Alethia Christian Theater and help them continue inspiring young people to pursue the art they love and grow as children of God.
